Welcome To LGBTQ+ Neighbors

LGBTQ+ Neighbors is a San Francisco East Bay community group formed online in October 2021 in the wake of the isolation of the Covid pandemic. Our goal is to build community for LGBTQ+ folks and their allies in the East Bay area who are eager to form strong bonds and supportive friendships with their neighbors.

Our group serves as a hub for the LGBTQ+ community, creating social events and gatherings that enable neighbors to meet and become friends. A small planning team helps to keep the membership engaged and growing, and encourages community members to host and participate in events and suggest new ideas for building community.

Our Goals and Values

LGBTQ+ Neighbors aims to create intentional community in which community members not only engage in fun activities, but are invested in helping their fellow members thrive. Our goal is not only to socialize, but to reduce isolation and bring folks together for long-lasting friendships, community empowerment and resilience.

Our Accomplishments

LGBTQ+ Neighbors members host monthly picnics and board game gatherings, a social giving circle, happy hours, poetry readings, museum outings, art making, walks, and movie viewings. Many friendships have already been formed within the group, and countless acquaintances have been made.

Membership in LGBTQ+ Neighbors covers a large geographic distance, comprising both Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Our Neighborhood Circles lessen that distance by identifying members who live near one another — sometimes on the same block! — and bringing them together in smaller groups.
